Make two 6-step clocks. Label one “Way of the Defender” and the other “Way of the Blade”. Finishing either clock confers the appropriate bonus, but you lose the opportunity to travel the road not taken. You may only mark a clock once per scene, barring exceptional circumstance
Way of the Defender
- When you throw yourself into danger to protect someone else, mark 1. Any damage they receive is divided evenly between you and the one you protect, rounded down. When the clock is full, you permanently gain 1 natural armor and erase both clocks.
Way of the Blade
- When you respond to situations impulsively or with unthinking violence, mark 1 and gain piercing attacks until your next rest. When the clock is full, permanently increase your damage by one die step and erase both clocks.
